Marketing can seem scary, it encompasses such a large scope of activities, it’s changing all the time, digital developments are faster than we can think about them. The costs can spiral, your internal team is subjective to the business and can struggle to work towards your vision as roadblocks fall in the way and there are constant new entrants creating the new to be smarter and stand out more.
So where do you start? Well, my view on Marketing is that it’s quite commonsensicle actually. You have products and services, you have people that need them, you need to tell them about your brand and why it’s different, what you have to offer, how much it costs and how they can buy it. Yes the telling them changes dependent on who they are and current trends but the brand philosophy should be strong enough to stand the test of time..yes the brand look and feel may need updating and yes the channels to reach your audience will evolve over time but the ‘why you exist’ in the market and your vision and mission needs to hold true, this way you can adapt your 4 p’s or 7’s of services marketing as external changes evolve.
Make sure you have a compelling stretch vision, that everyone is bought into and most importantly that it’s competitive. You can then plan your business and marketing strategy to deliver on it with continuous improvement and adaption to change built in.
